How To Use AI in the Design Process

September 12, 2024

Savvy designers are always on the lookout for innovative tools to streamline their workflow and spark creativity. The world of AI-integrated design tools is exciting and constantly changing. Here are some of the tools we are finding most useful currently:
Adobe Sensei: The Ultimate AI Partner
Adobe Sensei, a cutting-edge AI and machine learning framework, is transforming the way designers work. With its ability to analyse visual content, provide predictive insights by offering visual guides and suggestions based on what you’re doing, and automate tasks, Sensei has become an indispensable partner in the Savvy design process.
Adobe Firefly: A Game-Changer for Creative Exploration
Adobe Firefly, a generative AI tool, is a key image generator as part of the design process. With its ability to create new images and modify existing ones with options for reference images, Firefly has opened up new avenues for creative exploration. Designers can now quickly generate ideas and experiment with different styles. Adobe Express is also brilliant for AI text styling. (does it create new text styles or offer you a wider variety of text styles – what is text styling in this context?)
Canva’s AI Magic: Effortless Design Assistance
Canva’s AI-powered tools, such as Magic Media and Magic Design, greatly helps with the design workflow. Canva’s AI integration has made it incredibly easy for the wider Savvy team to create professional-looking designs without extensive design knowledge. Designers can now focus on high-level creative tasks, while AI handles the heavy lifting. Canva has a good video editor that allows you to use AI to assist while you edit. It’s capabilities are currently limited, but as with everything in the AI space, there will be more to come.
How AI Tools are implemented in the Design Process
This is how Savvy designers incorporate AI tools into their workflow:
  1. Brainstorming with Adobe Firefly: Using Firefly’s AI image generator to generate ideas, explore different styles, and create new images.
  2. Design Assistance with Canva’s AI: Leveraging Canva’s AI-powered tools to create quick designs, resize images apply special effects. Setting up a Brand Kit and templates on Canva allows non designers in the team to generate simple content efficiently.
  3. Adobe Sensei’s Predictive Insights: Using Sensei’s predictive design guides and follow insightful popups gives ideas and helps learning about new tools and creative uses of old tools.
